Stout (1958- ), a former employee of Crucible Steel in Midland, Pennsylvania, discussed what it was like to work in the steel mill in the blast furnace in 1978, when he was laid off in 1981, going to school at the Pittsburgh Institute for Aeronautics (PIA), and relocating to Atlanta to work for Lockheed Georgia.
In this first half of the interview, he talked about how he got his job at Crucible and what it was like to work in the blast furnace.
